ABOUT US
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
In 2015, the members of the United Nations Member States adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which was basically a movement to make this earth a better place to live for us all. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) became a global partnership, as countries tackle issues therein – poverty, health, education, inequality, economic growth, climate change and preservation of our environment.
The Beginning
Recognising the commitment of several not-for-profit, civil society organisations, social enterprises and volunteers fostering the SDGs, we are also aware of the need for their voices to be heard loud and clear. Online presence in form of website and social media becomes a tool to achieve that.
Sometimes in November 2018, appreciating the efforts of various causes committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to make our world a better place for us all to stay, we decided to run a promo asking for SDG causes to apply for free websites.
The promo was initiated by our parent company, Resipiscentia Webmedia and we ran it with our other concern, SurprisingLagos Media.
The response was overwhelming and we were able to make an offer to three SDG causes – Padman Africa, Tiger Active Sports and Centre for Research Education & Development in Physical Rehabilitation.
The Journey So Far
So the very first #FreeWeb4SDGs website, www.padbank.ng was launched on 8th February 2019. This was followed by www.tigeractivesports.com on 2nd March 2019 and www.credprfoundation.org on 1st April 2019.
By the time we ran the second promo, we knew that the initiative had come to stay and we decided to form a separate entity we called – FreeWeb4SDGs.
Since our inception, we have built a total 38 websites spanning Angola, Burundi, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Cote D’Ivoire and Cameroon.
So today, we welcome you to the world of FreeWeb4SDGs.
